History

1920

Izumiyama brothers in law

(Iwajiro Izumiyama and Ayajiro Izumiyama) excavated the Korekawa-nakai site.

1957

"Korekawa site" was listed as national historic site.

1961

Izumiyama brothers donated about 5000 artifacts to Hachinohe city.

1962

"633 artifacts from the Korekawa-nakai site" were listed as important cultural properties.

1963

The Korekawa Archeological Center build for the purpose of collecting and displaying archaeological remains of the Korekawa-Nakai Site.

1975

The Hachinohe Museum of History and Folklore opened. It have been the branch of Hachione City Museum since 1983.

1993

Designing of Hachinohe City Jomon Gakushu Kan was started.

1994

Hachinohe City Jomon Gakushu Kan opened.

1995

Korekawa Site Study Zone opened.

(The exhibition room of History and Folklore Museum was repaired as this zone).

1997

"The fundamental plan of designing of the Korekawa Jomon park" is drawn up.

1999

Hachinohe city excavated the Korekawa Nakai site. (~2004)

2003

"The Committee of designing of the Korekawa Jomon park" was established. The Fundamental Plan was revisited.

2004

"Promotion office for the Jomon park" was established in Hachinohe city board of education cultural affairs division.

"The Committee of designing of the Korekawa Jomon park" started to secure the land to bulid "Jomon park" and "Korekawa Jomon Museum (tentative name) " .

2006

The design office was selected by proposal method. Designing exhibition and floor started.

2007

Exhibition and floor detail design started.

2008

Site preparation and building construction work started.

2011

330 artifacts from Korekawa Nakai Site were listed as important cultural properties additionally. 10 July, Korekawa Archaeological Institution opened.
